September 3rd Menu

Menu


Su: Pizza (new recipe)
           I'm always looking for a really good easy crust recipe.  We'll see if this is it.
       
M:  Labor Day!  No big BBQ Party plans for us but we will surely us the grill.

     Grilled Salsa Chicken (new recipe)
      Grilled New Potato Packet (didn't make this last week)
       Maybe Cucumber Salad because I have so many
         
T: Cheese Burger and Fries Kabobs (new recipe)
      Cucumber salad if we didn't have it on Monday or Coleslaw
    
W: Kitchen sink quesadillas 
               I usually skip the lettuce part because I usually want dinner ready as quick as possible.  However, it's very good with if you are feeling up to it.  Sour cream is also a nice choice but obviously not the healthiest.

Th: California-sun Turkey Sandwich (new recipe)
       Fried Zucchini (new recipe)
            These just look so gosh-darn yummy.

Sa: Slow Cooker Lasagna (new recipe)
              This is a new recipe but it's Betty Crocker and lasagna, how can it go wrong?!

Menu August 26

The last week of August already.  Why does summer go by so quickly?


Menu:

SuImpossibly Easy BLT Pie (new recipe)
        veggie - maybe raw carrots

M:   Teriyaki Pineapple Turkey Burger (new recipe)
       Fantastic grilled corn on the cob (new recipe)

TuUltimate Grilled Steak (new recipe)
        Grilled New Potato Packet (new recipe)
        Salad

WQuick taco Salad
       Cornbread

Th: Breakfast for dinner - Egg Ham and Cheese wrap (new recipe) I'll probably cook mine on the stove.
      Fruit

Fr: Oriental Chicken Salad #2 (new recipe)
      Egg Rolls - frozen
      
Sa: Family Manicotti I made this a few weeks ago and it was good enough to do again.
       
Extras: s'mores brownies (new recipe) because it's a holiday weekend and why not.  I've made s'mores with brownies before now I'm going go make brownies with s'mores.

Also will continue to freeze my surplus of CSA veggies.  I'm beginning to run out of room in my freezer.

Speaking of CSA I received some very hot peppers (bright read scotch bonnet).  Not sure what I want to do with them.  If you have ideas for how to use these in a way that young kids will still eat it, let me know.

Menu for the Week of August 19 2012

This week seemed challenging because it's just me and the kids.  I don't want to have a ton of leftovers so I'll be making some half recipes. Enjoy


Menu:

Su: Spaghetti (H's choice)

M: Caramelized Beef Skewers (still new - didn't make last week)
    rice
    salad or zesty grilled veg
       
T: Pizza night at church followed by reptiles and amphibians (not for eating)

W: Perfect BBQ Chicken (new recipe)
      salad -
      corn on cob

     *cook extra plain chicken for tomorrow*
    
Th: Enchilada Pasta Bake (new recipe)
            I plan to split this into 2 8x8 pans and freeze one for later

Fr: Glazed pineapple chops (new recipe)
     pineapple
     rolls (i would do rice but J comes back from China)

Sa: club sandwich (new recipe)
      3 bean salad

extras: freezer hash browns (new recipe)
         
           chocolate chip-zucchini bread (new recipe)

           Will also be freezing corn, green beans, wax beans, and maybe summer squash. www. pickyourown.org tells you how to freeze most veggies.

    dinner rolls - I'll use Rhodes frozen whole wheat roll dough
    salad or zesty grilled veg - new recipe
       
W: Slow cooker taco soup - new recipe
     cornbread - I'll be using Krusteaz naturall honey cornbread mix.  I like because it doesn't have hydrogenated fat.

Th:   Garden Fresh grilled cheese - new recipe
         fruit
        chips      

Fr: Leftovers

Sat:  Out of Town.  You are on your own.

August 5 Menu #3


     Did you know you could freeze shredded zucchini?  I had extra zucchini from my brownies last week, and I froze it.  So, in winter I will be able to make wonderful zucchini bread.  Yeah!  Here's how to do it.  http://nutritionknowhow.org/wordpress/?p=315

MBBQ Beer Brat Kabobs -new recipe
                  For those of you from Wisconsin, don't worry I will be using Johnsonville brats.
    German Potato Salad (great grandma's recipe)
    rolls or brat buns

T: Sloppy Joes  I usually make 1/3rd (4 servings) of the recipe.  I have made the whole thing and froze the extra for another time.  You can made this with ground turkey
    Fries
    green beans

W: BBQ Chicken Enchiladas - new recipe
   Creamy Corn & zucchini - little skeptical but gets good reviews
     
    
Th: Princess play date:
          to die for blueberry muffins - new recipe
          fruit      
       Dinner:
          Barbecue-style grilled cheese  - new recipe
          salad

Fr: Ravioli (frozen)
      Red sauce (jarred)
      salad or other veg

Sa:  Not sure either chef salad, egg salad sandwich or leftovers
